A Swiss Waist, c. 1860

The waist is made of what appears to be cotton sateen and is lined with tan twill.  It is boned at the lacings and the sides.  It has been altered to be smaller, with a tuck taken in on each side seam, on the front piece on the left and the back piece on the right.  The waist would be used to dress up, or change the appearance of, another dress.

The waist measures 24 1/2" around the waist, 11" center front and 10" center back.
